Control Green Algae in
Lakes and Ponds with C-FLO-6 Beneficial Soil Microbes
Product Description: C-FLO-6 gives
green algae control in lakes and ponds using beneficial soil-type microbes.
CFLO-6 feeds on
non-living organic matter and is particularly effective in
reducing nutrients that are food for green planktonic
(suspended) algae. C-FLO-6 is a special formulation of beneficial
microorganisms, bacterial enzymes, nutrients and synergists. They are
naturally-occurring in soil and water. It is a freeze-dried culture on an inert
carrier; a dry free-flowing powder with tan and white particles.
What It Does: C-FLO-6, when used as directed, will eliminate bad odors
from the water, improve water clarity, control green algae in lakes and ponds,
enhance nitrification cycles in the water, break down organic and fecal waste,
and improve water quality for fish ponds in aquaculture applications.
How It Works: C-FLO-6 microorganisms feed on nitrogen and phosphorus,
reducing the availability of these nutrients in the water column. The
microorganisms take up phosphorus as PO4 and bind it in their cell mass, giving
green algae control in lakes and ponds. C-FLO-6 accelerates the natural nitrogen cycle and
expedites the conversion of ammonia into nitrite, then nitrate. It oxidizes
ammonia to form nitrites by the addition of oxygen, from dissolved oxygen in the
water. Then, it takes oxygen from the nitrite or nitrate in order to grow and in
the process, nitrogen gas is released. Ultimately, C-FLO-6 inhibits the
accumulation of ammonia and nitrite. C-FLO-6 is a preventative maintenance
product; it is not a quick fix. It will not kill a standing crop of algae but
over time, it will cut off the algae's food source by out-competing the algae
for the nitrogen and phosphorus in the water.
Where It Can Be Used: C-FLO-6 can be used for green algae control in both fresh water
lakes and ponds and salt
water environments. Aquaculture and fish ponds, golf course ponds, back yard recreational
ponds and small lakes are all places where C-FLO-6 can be used to control green
algae. Use of
CLEAN & CLEAR Concentrated Enzymes and the
CLEAN-FLO Multiple Inversion/Oxygenation system will
greatly enhance the effectiveness
of C-FLO-6.
Compatibility with Other Products: C-FLO-6 is compatible with shading
dyes in your lake or pond. It is not compatible with aquatic algaecides or
herbicides. Algaecides and herbicides kill algae and weeds and they will also
kill bacteria. When algae and weeds die, nutrients are released back into the
water column and are available to be utilized again. Repeated use of algaecides
and herbicides reduces a pond's ability to regulate its nutrient level, causing
it to be out of balance. If aquatic algaecides or herbicides are used in your
pond, you should wait about 2 weeks before applying C-FLO-6 (the time required
for the pesticides to break down may be longer or shorter in some cases).
C-FLO-6 will help bring the nutrient load back into balance and promote a
healthy aquatic environment.
Safety: C-FLO-6 is not a pesticide and will not kill weeds or algae. When
used as directed, it will not harm humans, plants, fish, animals, birds or the
environment. C-FLO-6 does not require a license or a permit. The bacteria in
C-FLO-6 are naturally-occurring and non-pathogenic.
Application: Bottom dissolved oxygen must be 2 mg/l or higher and water
temperature must be at least 55 degrees F. Initial application = 6 lbs. per acre
foot of water. Maintenance dose = 1 lb. per acre foot every 2 weeks. C-FLO-6
should be slurried with lake or pond water and poured in water around shoreline.
DOT Classification: Non toxic, non corrosive, chemical NOI, non
hazardous.
EPA/TSCA-PMN (Implicit Inclusion) OSHA: Non hazardous as defined by OSHA
1910.1200
Storage: Store product in original container below 100E F. Protect from
moisture.
