Lake Aeration

Aerating a lake can greatly improve the amount of oxygen in the water which in turn will improve the overall numbers of fish and plant materials in the lake. It is also a good way to cut down on fishkills and it helps the lake owner to properly control the weeds and algae. In addition, the quality of the lake’s water will improve, reducing any required treatment expenses.

Most of the time a rise in oxygen levels will reduce the amount of algal blooms and overall lake muck will decrease as well. Aeration of the lake can be accomplished by different methods including mixing by machines, water agitation or air injection. Clean-Flo has found a natural method for aeration that is efficient and less expensive than most other methods. This natural method has been tested and proven with years of study and thousands of successful lake restorations.

An aerator pumps out compressed air that reaches the diffusers sitting on the bottom of the lake. An all-natural compound made of buffered alum is added to the system. This compound was developed to hasten the release of phosphorus and improve oxygenation in the water. Enzymes and bacteria are then added to the water to help remove the lake muck. This system will circulate, de-stratify and aerate the water column. Independent labs have tested the Clean-Flo aeration system and show that it is guaranteed to provide the most effective aeration for a lake while also being the most efficient.

Controlling Weeds Naturally

The algae and weeds found in lakes will decrease in numbers as the amount of phosphorus declines. Weeds found under the water’s surface have to soak up carbon dioxide via the water column; they cannot get it from the root system. The Clean-Flo Lake Aeration System makes the water column reverse its position so that the carbon dioxide is expelled into the atmosphere. This reduction of carbon dioxide basically starves the plants of one of their necessary elements. To speed up this process the alum mixture (Lake Cleanser Special) is added to the lake along with the good enzymes and bacteria. Sometimes we replace the alum compound with Lake Care, our neutralizer that has an electronic charge. Regardless of the methods, we always begin each project with data collected from your lake that outlines the water’s current level of quality. Most of the time our efforts can eliminate at least 97% of the water column’s current amount of phosphate. Buffered alum, aeration and inversion will greatly improve the quality of the water and reduce the dependence on fertilizers for growth of weeds.
