C-FLO-5 Micro-organisms for wastewater

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: C-FLO-5 is a special formulation of dormant bacteria cultures and enzyme systems. It is a dry free-flowing powder that is tan to golden in color.

WHAT IT DOES: C-FLO-5 is designed to work effectively when applied to tannery wastewater in activated sludge treatment systems. High BOD and COD conditions can be reduced resulting in a cleaner effluent. Wastewater color levels usually become more clear as the BOD/COD is reduced. The micro-cultures selected for inclusion in C-FLO-5 have the ability to degrade alcohols, waxes, phenols, synthetic detergents, lignins, and tannins that are commonly found in tannery wastewater analysis.

WHERE IT CAN BE USED: C-FLO-5 can be used in sewage treatment and industrial wastewater treatment processes where digestion (biological oxidation) takes place. It can be applied to trickling filters, aeration tanks, oxidation ponds and lagoons. Use of an aeration system such as the CLEAN-FLO Multiple Inversion/Oxygenation system; will enhance the effectiveness of C-FLO-5.

COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER PRODUCTS: C-FLO-5 is compatible with shading dyes. It is not compatible with aquatic algaecides or herbicides. Algaecides and herbicides kill algae andweeds, but they will also kill bacteria.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: These are the optimum conditions necessary for healthy biomass to grow within the wastewater treatment system. If you do not provide and maintain this growth environment, the biomass will not work at all or will not work as efficiently as it could to remove waste organics.

  • pH 6.0 to 8.5 (7.0 is ideal)
  • DO 2.0+ ppm
  • PO4 2 mg/l minimum
  • Temperature 10-45 degreees C
  • NH3N 2 mg/l minimum

DIRECTIONS: Powder may be added directly to the aeration tank, lagoon or oxidation pond. Apply into a well mixed, well aerated area. For trickling filters it is best to pre-hydrate C-FLO-5 prior to application. Mix one pound of product with at least 2 gallons warm, non-chlorinated water and let solution stand for about 30 minutes.

APPLICATION:

For start-up: Days 1-4 = 25 pounds per MGD flow, Days 5-8 = 10 pounds per MGD flow

For maintenance: One pound per day per MGD flow every other day or as indicated by system operations.

These dose rates and schedules can be adjusted to fit particular projects. If you have a difficult project, increase the pounds per day and/or increase the number of days at each level of application. If your system only needs slight enhancement, dose rates and schedules can be reduced. It is possible to under dose, but it is not likely that you would ever over dose. It is best to evaluate removal results and adjust the dose rate and schedule accordingly.

Never apply less than five pounds per day for the start-up schedule no matter how low the flow of the treatment system. It is very important to inoculate with ample starting bio-seed.

The maintenance dose may or may not be necessary in any given system. If applied, it will prevent the slow deterioration of the quality of biological population. At least one pound of C-FLO-5 per MGD flow once each week is recommended.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: C-FLO-5 is not a pesticide and will not kill weeds or algae. When used as directed, it will not harm humans, plants, fish, animals, birds or the environment. C-FLO-5 does not require a license or a permit. The bacteria in C-FLO-5 are naturally-occurring and non-pathogenic; it is certified salmonella freePeople allergic to dust should wear nose, mouth and eye protection when handling this product. In the event of direct contact with eyes or skin, flush affected areas with water.
